The Quarter

@i_quartiere (The Quarter) is a social media piece centered on Yonkers, NY, where my grandparents settled after leaving Italy. The work follows @versopatria (Toward Home), which documented my return to the small town in Abruzzo they left exactly 100 years earlier. In The Quarter, I turn to the arrival, using photographs, family and public archives to explore the community they entered, the lives they built, and the prejudice and pressure toward assimilation. Posted in real time from the places where much of this history unfolded, the project considers what was carried forward, what was lost, and how the experience of immigration continues to shape identity and belonging generations later.
